Technique
- Start in an L-base with the flyer at the base’s head, facing the base’s feet.
- The base bends the knees and brings the feet close to the head.
- Using a Hand-to-hand grip, the flyer bends forward and places the shoulders on the base’s feet.
- The partners find a shared Tempo with a rocking motion; when ready, the flyer engages the Core and lifts the legs into a tuck while the base extends the legs, thinking Joint stacking.
- Once stable, the flyer opens into a straddle-pike.
- To exit, the base bends the legs to bring the flyer closer to the ground, and the flyer brings both feet down at the same time, taking care not to step on the base’s head.
Form tips
- To enter, the flyer should not jump, which can overshoot the movement and fall off the base’s feet.
- Place the feet comfortably on the flyer, usually with the ball of the base’s toes just past the flyer’s collarbone, the flyer’s Trapezius in the arch of the base’s foot and the heels slightly on the back of the shoulders.
- The flyer keeps a Hollow body with the Core engaged throughout.
