Technique
- Stand up, step the feet apart a little wider than shoulder width, turning the right foot open to 90 degrees and turn the hips and shoulders to face the same way.
- Bend the right knee to 90 degrees, extending the left leg and keeping the foot on the floor at about a 45 degree angle.
- On an exhale, bring the left hand to the floor inside the right foot, and reach the right arm straight up.
- Gaze at the right hand.
- Take 5 breaths.
- Stand up, rotate the feet and repeat on the other side.
Form tips
- Keep the front knee bent as you move into the pose, and keep it in line with the ankle and hip.
- Move the bottom shoulder and bent knee toward each other and the centerline of the body, rather than allowing them to move away from each other.
- Work the opposing force of the hands pressing down and reaching up to create a twist in the upper back.
- Keep the legs stable and strong to keep the centerline of the body in alignment.
Logging: Work each side for the time indicated.
