Technique
- Kneel on the ground with the tops of the feet down and bring the hands to your hips.
- With an inhale, engage the legs, lengthen the spine and lift the head and chest upward.
- With an exhale, shift the hips slightly forward, take the head and elbows backward, and extend the spine into a gentle backbend supported by the hands on the hips.
- Inhale to come back up, lifting the head last.
Form tips
- For tight shoulders and upper back, keep the chin lowered toward the chest.
- Press the hands into the hips and downward to help ground the legs throughout the posture.
- Pull the shoulder blades toward each other and downward.
