Technique
- Start in an L-base with the flyer standing to one side of the base’s hips.
- The base extends the leg closest to the flyer and finds the crest of the flyer’s hip, in the Hip pockets.
- The flyer crosses the arms, takes a Hand-to-hand grip with the base and lifts the leg furthest from the base.
- The flyer leans slightly to the side so the base’s leg carries the weight; the base can bend the knee a little to give room, then extend to straighten the leg.
- The flyer stays in a straddle with the head high.
- To exit, the base bends the knee slightly so the flyer finds the ground with the low foot. Repeat on the other side.
Form tips
- The base gives space for the flyer to lean on the leg rather than pulling the flyer over.
- The flyer keeps the hips squared, with the top leg not pointing behind the body, and points the bottom foot towards the ground to create a deep pocket for the base’s foot.
- When leaning in, the flyer may need to lean across the base’s torso towards the opposite shoulder rather than straight across the hips.
- The flyer keeps the gaze forward and chest high to avoid weighting the hands too much, and the base stays in their Box.
